Mitch
Mitch is a giant one-eyed monster. Though virtuous and pure of heart, his better qualities often go unnoticed. Mitch's lack of mouth and inability to speak make him much less popular with chattier types, who find him far too reserved. He also has an uncommon difficulty making friends with Pilgrims.
A cyclops at heart, Mitch represented a kind of philosopher king to the earliest inhabitants of North America - aiding them in countless existential dilemmas. One afternoon in June, Mitch saved a young boy from drowning in what is now called Little Betsie River. In gratitude, the tribe named the whole region after "Mitch" who saved them "again".
Pitchforking Pilgrims changed the spelling in spring of 1737. Pilgrims really don't like Mitch.
